One person has been killed in Kisumu protests as several others sustain gun-shot wounds and roads barricaded as demonstrators engage police in running battles.

Similar anti-IEBC protests have been witnessed in various towns in the country including Nairobi, Mombasa and Kakamega.

Several CORD supporters in Nairobi were dispersed by police as Suna East Member of Parliament Junet Mohammed was arrested over the ongoing protests. He was arrested at Mbagathi Way and is being held at Kilimani police station.

The protests in Kakamega town led to the arrest of Senator Boni Khalwale who was leading anti-IEBC demos in Kakamega as protesters were matching to the electoral body’s offices.

Anti-riot police officers have been alert in the affected towns to disperse protesters as well as maintaining law and order.
