Elgeyo-Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen

The angi-graft agency has summoned Elgeyo-Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen  for questioning over the National Youth Service scandal.

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) also summoned Deputy President William Ruto's aide Farouk Kibet. The two are supposed to report to the commission's offices today to record statements over their alleged role in the scandal.

Sources said Mr Murkomen and Mr Kibet's summoning letters were sent on Tuesday, and they were asked to report on April 22.

Former Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru dragged Murkomen and Farouk into the the scandal, claiming the senator had warned her against pursuing investigations.

In response to a damning affidavit by one of the key suspects, Josephine Kabura, Ms Waiguru said Murkomen told her to tell the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to drop investigations into the scandal or "face unspecified consequences if I did not adhere to these demands".

Investigations into the scandal are ongoing and most of those mentioned have recorded statements with the EACC.
