Disbanding KNEC is a step in the right direction

The move by the education Cabinet Secretary Prof. Matiang'i to disband the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) is a good move although this should have been done earlier. Action should have been taken immediately when exam irregularities started being witnessed in the country.

The step taken shows that Prof. Matiang'i is walking the talk. During the release of 2015 KCSE results, he promised to take action on those perpetrating cheating in examLast year recorded the highest number of cheating where 5,100 students committed the vice.

This shows that the credibility of national exams has declined. To add insult to injury, Prof. Kivilu blatantly said that the papers which were circulating were fake which was a lie.

The appointment of Prof. Magoha is expected to resuscitate credibility of exams for his track record is clean.

He served University of Nairobi well. Therefore, we expect justice to be done and if the officials are found guilty, they should be prosecuted.
