Mwingi Central MP Joe Mutambo was Monday charged with assaulting Pastor Thomas Wahome of the Helicopter Church.

The legislator was released on Sh50, 000 cash bail.

Pastor Wahome claimed the MP detained and assaulted him with a gun.
He alleged Mutambo, a licensed gun holder, threatened him using the weapon in the presence of police.

Wahome said the assault happened in the MP's office along Ngong Road where he had gone to reclaim a lorry that he leased to Mutambu last month.

The bishop says he leased Mutambu the lorry to ferry bags of cement from Donholm to a construction site in Karen.

"He promised to return the lorry a day later but he has refused to do so. Instead, I learnt he was repainting it in a garage," said Wahome.
