Commandos pip St Anthony's in Nzoia games

Kakamega's Green Commandos, paying before home fans, recorded a narrow but valuable 1-0 victory against St Anthony's as the Airtel Rising Stars Nzoia region games kicked off at the football mad institution yesterday.

The match, as expected, attracted hundreds of fans who cheered the teams throughout the 90 minutes duration.

But an early goal by Eric Ouma handed Commandos the victory that enabled them to give home fans something to cheer about at the end of the match.

East African champions Tartar won their first match following 4-0 drubbing of Kingadole of Busia in an entertaining girls match.

Tartar, also the national silver medalists, scored through Nancy Rotich and Miriam Chelegat who scored two goals each.

It was a triumphant start for two former East African and National champions Wiyeta and Archbishop Njenga.

Wiyeta overcame Chebukaka of Bungoma 2-0 while Archbishop Njenga defeated hapless Lodwar 8-0. Butere who are other big name in Nzoia region football beat Moi Girls 3-1 to bag maximum points.
