Senior police officer carjacked in Nairobi

NAIROBI, KENYA: A senior traffic officer was on Wednesday night carjacked and robbed of cash and valuables in an attack in Ongata Rongai, Nairobi.  

It is the second time in less than a year that the female officer of the rank of Chief Inspector is being attacked by gunmen. 

On Wednesday night, the officer who is based at Nairobi Area was driving home with her husband when a fleeing gang accosted them. 

Nairobi Area police boss Benson Kibue said the gang had earlier on attacked and robbed a family of valuables before shooting one man and later fled. 

It was then they bumped onto the officer’s car and took the occupants hostage before they later abandoned them few meters away. Kibue said none was injured in the incident. 

When she was attacked last year, she was in charge of Karen traffic operations and the thugs took away cash, police uniforms and other valuables that she had in her car.
