Manchester United told to pay £40m for Chelsea's Juan Mata

MANCHESTER UNITED have been told they must stump up £40million to land Chelsea outcast Juan Mata in January.

Mata has been frozen out at Stamford Bridge under Jose Mourinho and is prepared to push for a move away to salvage his World Cup dream.

And David Moyes is ready to make his move for the Spaniard, although United insist they have not YET lodged an official bid.

Chelsea have told the champions they must find £40m to buy Mata, with Mourinho expected to have the final decision over the midfielder's future.
