Granny moved to Class Three after impressive scores

Siaya, Kenya: A 66-year-old woman, who joined Class One last year, has been promoted to Standard Three after posting a sterling performance at Segere Primary School in Siaya County.

Irene Wambisa was promoted to Class Two in second term after emerging top in a class of 98 pupils.

She joined school just to learn English, a language mainly used to communicate in most offices.

Wambisa joined the list of the oldest people to go back to school, by going straight to Class One, three levels lower than her grandchild who is in Standard Four.

This was after the late Kimani Ng’ang’a Maruge burst into public limelight when he enrolled for primary education at the age of 84 in 2004.
