KCSE candidate collapses on day 1 of exams, remains unconscious

A Kenya certificate of secondary examinations (KCSE) candidate from Ikutha girls secondary school in Kitui county did not sit her exams Wednesday after she fell ill.

The candidate who is admitted at the nearby Mutomo Mission hospital in Kitui South collapsed immediately after sitting her papers and is yet to regain consciousness.

The exact cause of her collapse was not ascertained as medical officers from the facility fought to save her life the whole night. She has since improved slightly but doctors still maintain her inability to write any exams as education officers from the region express their optimism over her state.

“It is quite unfortunate the student fell ill during such a time but our prayer is she fully recovers and do her exams this afternoon” David Koech, the Ikutha sub-county education officer who visited the ailing student said.
