Nairobi,KENYA; A person who was suspected to be among gunmen who attacked Westgate Mall has succumbed to bullet injuries sustained during the attack.
The government through Presidential Strategic Communication Unit (PSCU) said the gunman who had been hospitalised after being captured died while undergoing treatment. This follows the on-going attack at Westgate Mall in Westlands in Nairobi.
The statement posted on the PSCU twitter handle comes after the Inspector General David Kimaiyo dismissed the claims by an eyewitness that one of the gunmen had escaped with hostages that were being rescued.
Efforts to rescue hostages held in the building is still underway.
