Nakuru, Kenya: Two Administration Police officers are fighting for their lives at the Molo District hospital after they were attacked by a suspected robber.

The officers from Ndoinet AP post in Kuresoi District had gone to arrest a man suspected of stealing  a solar panel  when they were attacked with a panga.

The officers who were unarmed were rescued from the wrath of the 31 year old suspect by Kenya Forest Service rangers manning the nearby Ndoinet Forest.

“The officers were surprised when the suspect emerged from his house with a panga and started attacking them,” a  witness said.

During the incident the officers sustained  serious  injuries on their heads, shoulder and arms and were rushed to the Molo District  Hospital by the rangers.

Angry members of the public who wanted to lynch the suspect set upon him and left him nursing serious injuries.
He was later also taken to the Molo District Hospital for treatment.

A source at the hospital said they were planning to move one of the officers to the Rift Valley Provincial General Hospital for specialized treatment.

Confirming the incident Kuresoi District Administration Police Commandant Solomon Mutungi said the suspect had been arrested.

“They had gone to arrest the suspect but he turned against them and  slashed them with a panga. However, they were assisted by KFS officers  and managed to over power the attacker,”  Mutungi said.

Police said he would be arraigned in court  once he leaves the Hospital to face charges related to the assault.
