KRA to collect taxes for county

The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) will from this financial year collect revenue and taxes on behalf of the county government.

The joint venture will be operationalised after the signing of an MOU between the authority and Kirinyaga County.

According to Governor Joseph Ndathi, the county has agreed to provide a space where the authority will set up an office of operations.

"This county has had a challenge in meeting its revenue target due to lack of technical expertise and the mechanisms. KRA is now going to provide this services once the partnership becomes operational," he said. The KRA will first map out areas which were previously not captured.
