British Airways makes emergency landing while on route to London after 'bomb threat'

A British Airways flight from Las Vegas to London has been forced to perform an emergency landing after a reported bomb threat.

The plane has landed in Montreal while authorities investigate the threat.

Passengers were forced to evacuate the plane after it landed in Montreal this morning.

Flight BA274 set off from Las Vegas at 9.25pm local time, and was due to arrive in London.

However it was diverted and landed in Montreal, Canada, at 5.47am local time.

Ewen Sommerville, a son of two passengers on board, said on Twitter: "They were told it was a suspect device and they were diverted to Montreal, landed, evacuated, then plane was searched.

"They and everyone safe and calm!"

The Genetics PhD student, from Newcastle upon Tyne, added: "Looking forward to them coming home soon."
