Rapist slapped with an 18-year jail term

A boda boda rider has been sentenced to 18 years after being found guilty of gang-raping a woman passenger.

Dennis Lidonde, in his early 30s, committed the act at Shitaho area in Kakamega Central on March 4, 2020, alongside an accomplice Boniface Luchina who was acquitted for lack of evidence.

Kakamega senior resident magistrate Josephine Maragia handed the sentence yesterday afternoon, saying "the victim was traumatised and she will live with the memories for the rest of her life".

State lawyer Leina Davies said Lidonde ferried the victim under the pretext he was taking her to a Kefinco only to end up at a bush in Shitaho where he raped her.
