Kakamega County : The Kakamega County government will request retired doctors to step in for striking health workers, Governor Wycliffe Oparanya has said.

The governor also said the striking doctors would not be paid for the days they are off duty.

“If the doctors do not resume duties, my government will be forced to request retired doctors, who are still strong and below the ages of 65, to take up the duties,” Oparanya warned. He was speaking at the Kakamega General Hospital when he visited the facility.

“Doctors will not receive any pay from the day the court ruling was passed against the strike to the day they resume their duties.
