Wife sets husband on fire for getting home late

When Gabriel Wafula, a teacher, got home at 10pm on Sunday, he expected his wife to warmly welcome him but this was not the case.

Instead, he was locked outside and had to look for an alternative.

Wafula resorted to spending the night in his lorry but at 1am his wife came calling.

“At 1am my wife came to the lorry and asked why I was sleeping inside the vehicle. I told her I had knocked (on the door) but she could not respond.

“We had a bitter exchange which attracted neighbours before we agreed to settle the matter the following day,” he said.

The couple appeared to have settled the matter when they proceeded to their house but later, neighbours were woken up by screams.

Wafula claimed he had been set on fire by his wife and was quickly rushed to hospital.

"After I went to the bedroom to sleep, my wife came with a bottle of petrol and poured on me and lit a match stick before I could escape,” he revealed.

Wafula is currently undergoing treatment at Cherang’any Nursing Home in Kitale and police have already begun tracking down the suspect.
