Nairobi residents have been asked to use alternative routes on Sunday, March 10, 2019, for the better part of the morning.

This is due to the Beyond Zero 2019 Half Marathon that will kick off at 6.30 am.

The closed roads will include:

1. Mombasa Road

2. Lusaka Road – Mombasa Road Junction to the City Stadium

3. Aerodrome Road

4. Bunyala Road – Mombasa Road Junction to Unilever Kenya

5. Haile Selassie Roundabout – August 7th Memorial Park


6. Kenyatta Avenue

7. University Way

8. Waiyaki Way

9. Museum Hill – Waiyaki Way Junction – Ojijo Road/Kipande Road junction

Below is a breakdown of the schedule:

Wheelchair/Tricycle - Call Time: 6:00am, Start Time: 6:30am

Half Marathon (21km) - Call Time: 6:40am, Start Time: 7:00am

10Km Corporate Race - Call Time: 8:00am, Start Time: 8:30am

5Km Race and 2Km Pregnant Walk: Call Time: 8:45am, Start Time: 9:00am

Launched in January 2014 by Her Excellency Margaret Kenyatta the First Lady of the Republic of Kenya, Beyond Zero was inspired by the realization and knowledge that maternal and childhood deaths are preventable.

It is a call to action for policy prioritization and formulation, increased resource allocation, improved service delivery and better individual health-seeking behaviors and practices.
