Jalang’o pens emotional tribute after quitting radio show

Felix Odiwuor aka Jalang’o has penned an emotional letter following his exit from Royal Media Services’s (RMS) Hot 96.

The message posted on his Instagram account on Tuesday indicated people who helped him settle at RMS and a special note to Citizen TV news anchor, Jeff Koinange.

The celebrated comedian will join his former colleague at Standard Group’s Radio Maisha, Alex Mwakideu at Milele FM.

They will link up with former head of Citizen Radio Joyce Gituro and presenters Francis Luchivya and Wilbroda, real name Jacky Nyaminde at the swahili station.

“Last Friday was my last day at @hot96fmkenya I must say it's been a ride and a half...1 year 4 amazing months of hard work and delivery. I want to take this special opportunity to thank the entire Family of Royal media especially the hot 96 Team.

He continued: “Very special mention to Fred Afune who believed in me and assured me that this will work even when no one believed! You gave me an opportunity of a life time and see what we created in just 1 year and 4 months...a monster show. Waruru Wachira...the man behind the brand Jalango...most of you don't know that Waruru discovered me thank you soo much!”

“Thank you to my brother from another mother my mentor whom to this moment I haven't even called because I don't know how to @koinangejeff The show must go on! My producer @cynthia_mwangi Thank you soo much,” Jalang’o added.

Jalang’o had the honour of hosting the launch of Sauti Kuu youth centre in Siaya County and he later revealed that the event had lifted his profile thus he would charge more when called to emcee other events. Former US President Barack Obama graced the event.

“Hosting ex-president Barack Obama is no child’s play. However, I have hosted a couple of big events before; the biggest, until the Sunday function, was the World Cup in South Africa 2010.

“I have also hosted many presidential events, so I almost knew what was expected of me.

“I have now updated my CV, and I am now charging higher to emcee at an event,” he revealed during a TV interview.

Jalang’o is one of the most sought-after emcees in the region and has hosted various events including weddings of bigwigs in the entertainment industry.
