Quality education in universities, middle level colleges paramount

The proposed Kenya Qualifications Framework which seeks to provide one stop accreditation, teaching, assessment and evaluation for qualification and accreditation starting next year is a step in the right direction.

In fact, it is the responsibility of Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority to check the quality of certificates and diplomas.

It also behooves the Commission on University Education to look at problems bedeviling our universities like inadequate staff and infrastructure as well as poor quality of education and standards to redeem the downmarket image of our universities.

The time to bring sanity in our higher education, Dr Fred Matiang'i, is now in order to bridge the gap between the academia and labor market and redeem higher education.
