The confession of a Social Media addict

My phone dictionary defines you as; Websites and applications that enable users to create and share content or to participate in social networking.

But what is so social about this medium? Is it replacing the normal-thinking human being with robots/zombies?

This bug is all over. In the bus, parades, press conferences, meetings and even in the lavatories!

I am no longer social. I cannot live without my phone and laptop. I keep refreshing my accounts. My son cannot recognize me without seeing me with a hand held device.

I have gone top notch, I called my ZUKU guy to fix WIFI in my home so as to beat the Safaricom low-bundles blunder.

WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn. How the hell did I live without you?

Do you know how much I have spent on you? I am now referred to as a snob because I prefer chats to verbal talks.

The other day I wondered aloud how I managed to tweet over 20K tweets. How?

Facebook, I hate you! You keep prompting me with questions about ‘Whats on your mind….’ You have even gone ahead and given me icons to express my emotions. Who are you?

Instagram, you just decided that without my pictures you cannot accommodate me. I have to upload and upload and upload. Then came you twin #TBT. At first I thought it was an abbreviation for Test for Tuberculosis Today. I hate you too!

WhatsApp, I will get rid of you the day I fix my Nokia 3310. You wait. You lead the pack. You improvised and came up with Groups. I am an admin of 17 Groups! Yes and administrator! (I wonder what my High school class teacher feels when she reads this. She told me in the face I was not able of leading in any group work).

Ohh I have to post this crap on my blog so as it can be read by my fellow ‘in-mates’. They will click LIKE and SHARE. And that will make me smile.

I am an addict, I need an antidote!
