The eagerly awaited Kenya Swimming Federation (KSF) elections will be held in December.

The announcement was made by the International Swimming Federation (FINA) vice president Sam Ramsamy after a stakeholders meeting held on Thursday at the Stadion Hotel, Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.

The new move will see the lifting of the indefinite suspension slapped by FINA after Kenya failed to hold elections as recommended by the world body.

Ramsamy, who is also the president of the African swimming body, said the three-man stabilisation committee appointed by FINA to run daily operations of KSF and prepare for election has been mandated to come up with a road map that will lead to the December elections.

"I have confidence the stabilisation committee will come up with a formula that will clear the path to a successful election. Kenyan swimming has suffered a lot and time is now to have swimming back in Kenya," said Ramsamy.

The stabilisation committee chairman Jace Naidoo from South Africa said they will work with all stakeholders to put in place a new constitution before the election.

"We intend to finalise the constitution amendment. We have resolved to have the election by December this year," said Naidoo.

Naidoo said the election will see Kenya get back to normalcy with a possibility of FINA lifting the indefinite suspension slapped last April.

National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOC-K) secretary general Francis Mutuku and Uganda's Moses Mwase who are members of the stabilisation committee attended the meeting.
