Special groups to get portion of contracts

People with disabilities, women and youths will receive 30 per cent of road projects, a county official has said.

County Procurement Officer Geoffrey Rotich said the county would abide by President Uhuru Kenyatta's directive to reserve 30 per cent of national and county government tenders for youths, women and people with disabilities.

"We are keen to abide by the President's directive because it is also anchored in the public procurement law. In this financial year, the county government has earmarked Sh100 million for the roads department and the group will pocket 30 per cent of the amount," he said at a press conference in Kericho.
