At last, a smartphone case to help men keep their sperm safe at Shs4,000

LONDON: Carrying your smartphone in your trouser pocket may be convenient, but it could be causing long-term damage to your sperm count.

A new case, called the WaveWall, has been created to protect your testicles from harmful radiation emitted by your blower while you're carting it around.

The case is made from black leather, but includes a shielding layer that absorbs the rays that could damage your little swimmers.

“Several studies have shown a negative impact of low-level electromagnetic radiation (EMR) on the sperm count, motility, viability and normal morphology," said Dr Amin Gorgy, a fertility consultant at The Fertility & Gynaecology Academy in London.

Although the swanky-looking case is absorbing radiation, regular phone signal and wi-fi is unaffected - so you'll still be able to receive calls and emails.

According to the company behind the case, most men don't realise that phone radiation can affect sperm count. They say that one in five healthy young men between 18 and 25 have a low sperm count.

"The problem of male infertility is a growing one that is receiving increasing recognition in the scientific community,” explained Harry Gardiner, the managing director of WaveWall.

“It’s very easy to get caught up in the here and now with many not thinking about fertility until they reach the point at which they would like to start a family," he added.

Thankfully, as well as saving your future unborn children, the £24.99 (about Shs4,000 at the current exchange rate of Sh156) WaveWall case will also stop your smartphone getting scratched in a pocket-based-battle with your car keys.
