Zuku unveils new TV channels to offer more choice to viewers

NAIROBI, KENYA: Zuku, the home of entertainment and communication services, has today launched new and refreshing channels on its platform mainly directed at sports fans.

Among the new channels introduced to the Zuku stable are three exciting sports channels.

Wananchi Group CEO Richard Alden said the new additions were in response to client comments on viewership.

“We have made these changes because we get feedback from our clients and we listen to what they want from us. It is our duty to provide the kind of entertainment they enjoy,” Mr Alden said.

Kombat Sports is an all-fight sports channel, aired from France, which features action oriented games such as: boxing, kickboxing, Muay Thai, Karate, Taekwondo and Kung fu.

Another new offering from France is MCS International that brings exclusive premium sport content including football. Its main features are the MLS (US league), Russian League, French National league, Everton TV, Chelsea TV, Barça TV, Bayern TV, Marseille TV, Juventus Channel, basketball, volleyball, tennis and golf.

The new twist to sports is the fusion with entertainment which will be enjoyed on the Trace Sports Stars channel 126.

“This is a first of its kind in the Kenyan market as sports fans will be able to follow the lives of sports icons. Our viewers have expressed their strong interest in sports and that is why we have this unique package to keep them abreast with the happenings in the sports world,” Mr Alden explained.

At the same time, the entertainment service provider announced that it will be broadcasting Lolwe TV - a Luhya TV station on the Kenyan digital platform, with a footprint that spreads across Nairobi and its environs. It is also aired in Western Kenya and various parts of the country. This is in line with our strategy at promoting and enhancing local authentic content.
