Fossilised iguana (lizard) 'spotted on Mars surface'

Is this a photo of a fossilised iguana on Mars?

Conspiracy theorists have claimed iguanas have beaten humans to Mars after a photo that allegedly showed a fossilised one on the Red Planet was revealed.

The dead creature was apparently spotted in a picture obtained from Nasa’s archives by UFO Sightings Daily.

The snap, taken by the Mars Curiosity rover, showed an object that bore a resemblance to an iguana on the surface, with Sightings Daily’s owner Scott Waring claiming it was a fossilised lizard.

‘This is not the first animal found on Mars, actually there have been about 10-15 to date,’ he told agoracosmopolitan.com.

‘I even found a rock that moved four times in four photos…then vanished on the fifth.’

Earlier this year a Japanese science writer said he had seen a lizard wondering around in https://cdn.standardmedia.co.ke/images beamed back from Mars.

This led to accusations Nasa could possibly be using animals as test subjects on Earth’s closest planetary neighbour.
