Rugby: Boost for KCB as Buffa, Amunga and Onyala return ahead of Mwamba clash

Alvin 'Buffa' Otieno will make his debut for defending champions KCB when the bankers face Mwamba today in a Kenya Cup matches set to be played at the RFUEA Grounds.

All eyes will be on Kenya Sevens star Otieno who will be donning KCB's jersey for the first time having completed a move from Homeboyz in the full transfer window.

He has been handed a start on the right wing with Jacob Ojee starting on the left side.

Another Shujaa star and Kenya's leading try-scorer in the 2022 World Sevens Series season Vincent Onyala also returns after being been named in the midfield alongside Max Kang’eri.

Jacob Ojee will feature from the left wing as Darwin Mukidza hold at fullback.

Samuel Asati will play scrum-half role as Levy Amunga also back from international duty coming in at fly-half.

Other players include Peter Waitere, Davis Chenge, Felix Ojoo, Brian Munyali, Oliver Mang’eni, George Asin and Nelson Nyandat.

Mwamba come into their tie against KCB placed sixth on the log with 14 points from 7 outings, having seen their recent three match winning streak halted lasted weekend when they fell to a 31-14 away defeat to struggling Resolution Impala Saracens at the Impala Club.

Kevin Wambua’s charges will be hard pressed to stop the free scoring KCB who have managed to put an average of 41 points past their opponents in their last four outings.

KCB, currently placed third with 31 points from 7 matches, will be looking to stay unbeaten and make the most of this game in hand to entrench themselves in the automatic semifinal slots as the league phase draws to a close.
