Kenya Sevens team finished sixth in the second leg of the Dubai Sevens tournament.

Shujaa lost 10-5 to Great Britain in the fifth-place finals played yesterday that sees them pick 11 points from the outing.

This is is an improvement for Shujaa who finished eighth last weekend in the first leg of the Dubai Sevens.

Kenya scored the opening try in the fourth minute through captain Jeff Oluoch after a clever offload from Johnstone Olindi released the renowned Shujaa dance choreographer to touch down at the far-left corner giving Kenya a slender 5-0 lead after a missed conversion.

Moments before the breather, a kick and chase by Robbie Fergusson saw the Britons score their first try that tied the scores at 5-5 heading to the break.

In the final half, Fergusson handed his side the lead after beating Shujaa’s defence to score a try that saw them lead 10-5.

The Britons proceeded to hold on to the slim lead to finish fifth in the tournament.

Earlier in the day, Shujaa lost to South Africa 31-19 in the Main Cup quarter-finals where captain Jeff Oluoch, Alvin Marube and Timothy Mmasi touched down for Kenya.

The loss saw Shujaa relegated to the fifth place play-offs where they thrashed USA 29-0.

Tony Omondi scored a brace as Alvin Otieno, Oluoch and Olindi finished off the Americans.

Shujaa now shift focus to 2022 where they are set to kick off their campaign with a trip to Spain in January.
