As the 2019 National Sevens Circuit starts with the Kakamega Sevens this weekend, the tournament organisers have promised a faultless event which has attracted over 32 clubs from Kenya Rugby Union-sanctioned leagues.
Cross-town neighbours Western Bulls and Kabras Sugar will jointly host the showpiece, the inaugural National Sevens Circuit leg to be held in Kakamega.
The Nairobian, a weekly newspaper owned by the Standard Group, has come on board as a media partner for the event and Western Bulls Chairman Eliud Siganga believes the partnership will play a crucial role in the visibility of the tournament.
“Media plays a very important role in sport and that is why the availability of The Nairobian at the Kakamega Sevens will be important for the competition. We are grateful that The Nairobian have decided to join us as we host a National Sevens leg for the first time,” Siganga said.
Siganga further assured that there will be adequate security courtesy of the County Government who are expected to provide at least 32 law enforcers during the tournament.
“We have received massive support from the County Government and that shows that they are committed towards sports. Everyone is welcome to watch local rugby talent that will be on display,” he said.
Bulls and Kabras won the rights to host the Kakamega Sevens for the next two years.
The event is a replacement of the Sepetuka Sevens which was hosted by Homeboyz in Eldoret during the 2017 and 2018 seasons.
