A postmortem report set for release today is expected to reveal the cause of death of a first-year Masaai Mara University student.

According to the Dean of Students at the university Aden Mohammed, the deceased, Wycliffe Omondi Okello, 22, died at Shepherd Hospital, where he was admitted on February 19, after complaining of lower abdominal pain and 'constant erection'.

“The police are investigating the incident. We are waiting for a post-mortem report to establish what really happened,” Aden told The Standard on phone.

According to an OB report filed at Narok Police Station, Okello was first treated at the university clinic and transferred to Shepherd Hospital for further treatment where he died hours later.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Okello was among five students who attended an event and partied outside the school into the dead of the night on February 18.

Details about the condition of the four other students remain scanty.

The body was taken to Narok Referral Hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem.
