A seven-year-old pupil at Progressive Chepchep Academy in Kipchebor Ward has been knocked to death by a speeding vehicle.

The deceased's 11-year-old bother has been left fighting for his life at the Kericho County Hospital after he suffered leg fracture in the incident which occurred at Chebisom area, along the Kericho-Kipchimchim, Ainamoi road.

Two adults also suffered various body injuries after the speeding driver veered off the road getting into the pedestrian lane. The two are also admitted to the same hospital.

The pupils were walking home when the 4:30 pm accident occurred.

County Police Commander James Mugera confirmed the accident but said he was waiting for more details from officers on the ground before releasing the accident's details.

However, an eye witness Irene Koskei said the pupils were walking ahead of her when the driver of the vehicle knocked them down plus the two other pedestrians, after which the driver rammed into a nearby agro-chemist shop.

"The accident happened so fast I couldn't even manage to grab and pull the children out. One of them died on the spot while the other was rushed to the hospital," she said.

Immediately after the accident occurred, angry Chebisom residents descended on the driver who was allegedly drunk before he was rescued by the police and placed under arrest.
