Ongoing construction along Nairobi's Waiyaki way affects motorists

Motorists using the Sarit Centre roundabout in Westlands, Nairobi will have to use an alternative route due to partial closure running for 21 days.

The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) urged motorists to use alternative routes until August 12 when the project will be completed.

The closure is aimed at improving the link from Waiyaki way to Limuru through Westlands.

Vehicles headed towards The Oval/ Sarit Centre on the left side from Waiyaki Way shall navigate the roundabout on the deviation provided on the right hand side of the roundabout.

They will then take a right turn at Lower Kabete Road, proceed to Sarit Centre or Westgate Mall, and proceed ahead.

Waiyaki Way-bound traffic on the left side of the Oval shall stick to the left and navigate the roundabout on the left hand side and through to Waiyaki Way.

The deviation provided on the right of the roundabout shall be sufficient for opposing traffic all through taking cautions of opposite traffic from Waiyaki way.

Waiyaki Way bound traffic (single lane) on the left from Parklands road shall stay on the left and turn at the roundabout taking left turn towards Waiyaki Way as normal.

The Oval/Sarit Centre bound traffic on the left side from Parklands road shall navigate the roundabout on the deviation provided on the right hand side of the roundabout, take a left turn at Lower Kabete road, proceed to Sarit Centre or a right turn, and proceed to The Oval.

Waiyaki Way/Parklands Road bound traffic on the left side from the Oval shall stick to the left and navigate to the roundabout on the right hand side and through to Waiyaki way as usual or take the left turn into the one way Park road as normal.

The agency said the deviation provided on the right of the roundabout shall be sufficient for opposing traffic although taking caution of opposite traffic from Waiyaki way

Mwanzi road will remain open for traffic as an alternative route from Westgate mall.

The Parklands road on the left from Barclays bank and Woodvale groove next to Shell shall remain closed and no exit onto the construction area.

Outering Road, which connects Thika Road to the Airport North road at AllSops, was partially closed from Thursday July 25 to July 28 to allow installation of a footbridge, the agency said.
