Opulent Muthangari

It is a relatively plush, leafy upmarket estate along Nairobi’s Waiyaki Way it borders the even grandeur Lavington and Kileleshwa. Muthangari Estate enjoys cool and clean air thanks to the green foliage that sandwiches roads such as Muthangari Drive.

The area is well guarded given the high profile personalities who live there.

Situated some 15 kilometres from the Central Business District, the estate is home to many senior government officials including former Vice President Moody Awori. This explains why the estate is teeming with 24-hour police patrols and hawk-eyed Administration Police and General Service Unit officers. It is also a favourite for many expatriates and diplomats.

Natural feel

The estate has a homely, natural feel with well-grown hedges, lush vegetation and lanes with a rural air. The ABC Place with its arcade of shops, restaurants and pharmacies, the Sarit Centre and Nakumatt Westgate in Westlands are some of the modern shopping and entertainment centres around the area.

The estate is awash with top of the range vehicles and the road is well maintained. There is no public transport here except for vehicles using James Gichuru Road. Apartments are few but the mansions here boasts of four to five bedrooms with sprawling gardens.

The mansions costs up to Sh50 million each with the rental price for a four-bedroomed mansion on a mature garden with a panoramic view and including a large sitting room, fitted kitchen, a family room, a study, servants quarters and ample parking goes for Sh300,000 per month.

Strathmore School, St Mary’s, Loreto Convent Msongari, Consolata School, Nairobi International School and Makini schools are some of the academic institutions here.
