It seems as though private cars, taxis, buses and matatus have colluded to take over all the streets in Nairobi’s Central Business District. The city is now literally constipated. Hence, in order to transform it into a pedestrian friendly city, there is need to urgently encourage walking and cycling, and discourage cars and parking bays within the CBD. The quality of street life must also be improved.
