Western Kenya MPs dismiss Kenneth Marende’s bid for Nairobi governor seat

KITALE: A section of MPs from Western have dismissed former Speaker Kenneth Marende’s bid for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat.

MPs Ababu Namwamba (Budalang’i), David Lazaro (Saboti), Janet Nangabo (Trans Nzoia) and John Waluke (Sirisia) accused Mr Marende of trying to sabotage the ambitions of Water and Irrigation Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa of becoming the Nairobi governor.

Endorsing Mr Wamalwa, the MPs warned that the Luhya will not allow individuals driven by selfish personal interests to scuttle his ambitions.

Mr Ababu cautioned the former Speaker and other Luhya leaders out to undermine Wamalwa that they will face the wrath of the community, arguing that the Luhya were behind the Water and Irrigation Cabinet secretary for the city seat.

“This is our strong message to leaders out to sabotage Wamalwa’s chances of becoming the governor. We will shame them and they will face political rebellion,” Ababu said. They were speaking at the 13^th memorial service of the former Vice President Michael Wamalwa.
