One-night stand to light up Nyayo Stadium

Rugby fans will be treated to another festival of rugby Saturday in a tournament dubbed One Night Stand which will be held at Nyayo Stadium.

The tournament which is being sponsored by Homeboyz Entertainment will run from 9am upto 10pm and security will be provided by Absolute Security.

Unlike last year’s 7s aside tournament, the organizers have opted for the more grueling but equally entertaining 10s-aside format.

16 clubs are participating and the organizers have shied away from last year’s tradition of inviting select sides. Fans will get to see Kenya Cup sides competing against the lower tier Eric Shirley and University clubs for the top prize of Sh100,000.

The losing finalist will pocket Sh50,000 while the two semifinalists will walk away with Sh25,000 each.

The teams to watch are definitely Mwamba and Kenya Harlequins but the national under 19s side (Chipu RFC) may throw in a few surprises. Other notable sides which may cause some upsets include Mean Machine, Blak Blad and USIU. Besides providing a combined sponsorship of Sh200.000, both Homeboyz Entertainment and Absolute Security have promised a professional and well-organized tournament.

Security will be provided up to midnight especially along Uhuru Highway. The entrance charges are Sh200 for ladies and Sh300 for men.
