ODM’s Raila Odinga will be in Kilgoris Friday, Narok Saturday and whizz back to Nairobi’s Dandora on Sunday. This means he will most likely be wearing the red favoured by his hosts the Maasai. Of course Uhuru Kenyatta will be busy at Bomas of Kenya hosting TNA aspirants and the inevitable road show through the streets of Nairobi. William Ruto, meanwhile, has chosen Mombasa as his launch venue for his party manifesto and hopes noone mistakes his republicans with those others seeking to decamp from the rest of Kenya, the Mombasa Republican Council.

Strange times indeed that Dr Boni Khalwale found himself fighting from the same corner as Amos Kimunya in Parliament on Thursday. He was, however, treading dangerous ground when he started arguing against his colleagues’ njustification of a generous gratuity oin January.

The book “Rich Dad Poor Dad” by Robert Kiyosaki is one of the most read tomes taking the reader through steps to financial independence and to impart tips on how to increase a person’s financial intelligence. It earned Mr Kiyosaki millions of dollars, but now, the fellow has filed for bankruptcy after a court ordered him to pay $23,687,957.21 to Learning Annex and its founder and chairman, Bill Zanker as a share of profits from several high profile speaking engagements, to promote Kiyosaki’s book series. Not a very glamorous ending to one who shares secrets money-making strategies of the wealthy.

Now that peace has broken out between Education minister Mutula Kilonzo and the teaching fraternity, they have at least agreed on a school opening date of January 7. They have even quietly accepted a 10-day half-term break, between February 25 and March 7 when Kenyans will go the polls. You can already feel the excitement in the air.

And finally...

Believe you me, you have not been to the moon if you have not tried to drive along roads in Kisii town (or what is left of them anyway). But in Kandara, Murang’a the skies did not take kindly to villagers and students demonstrating against a dusty stretch of “road”. The heavens opened up and promptly drenched them. Heh! Heh! Heh! Nature!
