Motor dealer CMC Holdings has launched MAN TGX heavy duty truck in the local market to serve in the transportation of heavy commodities especially for the country's mining and gas sector.

The auto dealer says the vehicle is Euro 5 compliant and therefore eco-friendly. Euro 5 is a European emission standards defined as the acceptable limits for exhaust emissions of new vehicles sold in EU member states. Through a road travel, two veteran international drivers, Riaan Manser and Nduna Chari did a road test of the vehicle from South Africa to CMC's showrooms along Bunyala Road in Nairobi.

''The success of the 13,234 kilometre journey showcased the truck's power and performance in different African terrains,'' explains CMC's Gee Gatabaki. The MAN brand will be competing against established rivals like Mantrac Kenya that sells the Caterpillar (CAT) brand of construction equipment. Other brands in the market include Komatsu, JCB, Mercedes and Hyundai.
