Liberia celebrates outgoing Kenyan engineer

The Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) on Wednesday bid farewell to its outgoing Information Technology Director Johnson ole Nchoe who served the company for two years.

Corporation Chief Executive Officer Peter Graham said that the farewell was an initiation to appreciate Nchoe for the significant contributions he made during his tenure.

“He has done a great job for us and for this country and we have to celebrate his contribution as he goes back to Kenya. We wish you well,” said Graham.

The CEO praised the Kenyan for accepting to leave his peaceful country and rebuild a nation that was hit hard by civil war.

In his vote of thanks, Nchoe explained that it had been an enjoyable, challenging and exciting journey in ensuring that the people of Liberia get electricity.

“I would like to thank all of you for the massive support you gave me to ensure the success of LEC,” said Nchoe. He was appointed to join a team of consultants in a donor-funded programme to assist re-build the electricity network in Liberia which was destroyed after many years of civil war.

Nchoe previously served as the Chief ICT Manager in Kenya Power before making early retirement to pursue private business opportunities.
