Teachers start registering for new medical scheme

AON Kenya Insurance Brokers has started registering 252,000 teachers and their dependents. The Sh5.59 billion cover dubbed Afya Kwa Walimu Comprehensive Medical Scheme and Group Life Cover allows teachers to register through mobile phone and application form method.

For self-registration, one dials *384*847# for Safaricom and *865# for Airtel before being issued with a biometric medical card. For dependents, dial *384*847# from Safaricom line or *865# for Airtel, enter your new Pass Code when prompted and follow the prompts to register your dependents at no cost.

AON Kenya Chief Operating Officer Sammy Muthui said the new scheme will see teachers across Kenya get access to comprehensive quality healthcare. “Teachers will now get the quality medical attention they need from healthcare providers within the East African region as well as worldwide panel of providers for evacuation and treatment not locally available,” added Muthui.

“So far, we have processed funeral benefits for all TSC registered teachers who passed away since July 1, 2015 at Sh100,000 per family and we are in the process of paying their life insurance benefits to dependents.”

The scheme covers inpatient care, comprehensive outpatient benefits, maternity, dental, optical, last expense cover and group life cover among others.
