Gachagua tells Raila to forget Cherera four reinstatement, retire from politics

[DPCS] Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has told off the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition over its demands for the reinstatement of Cherera four members. Speaking on Saturday morning in Kipipiri Constituency, Nyandarua County Gachagua termed the opposition's demand for the reinstatement as impossible. "Some of the demands (by Azimio) are impossible to implement. They are talking about a server, do you know where it is.....the President and I too do not know where it is located" he said. Gachagua said that the "Cherera four" wrote letters voluntarily and resigned from office. "If you resign who can reinstate you?" he asked. "...three of them resigned willingly from office while one Masit was removed legally through a tribunal," said Gachagua. He spoke when he presented relief support to residents displaced by heavy rains and flash floods. The Cherera four are former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) commissioners Juliana Cherera, Justus Nyang'aya, Francis Wanderi and Irene Masit. The four disagreed with former IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati's decision to announce President William Ruto as winner of last year's August general elections against his close contender Raila Odinga and walked away from the Bomas venue in Karen and held a press conference. Mr Gachagua also rubbished allegations by the opposition leaders that their presidential candidate, was rigged in last year's race for State House. He asked Mr Odinga to retire from politics. "How come he is the only presidential candidate who claims to have been rigged? It is the fifth time now he is claiming rigging. They (opposition leaders) should wait for 2027 elections and vie again," said Gachagua. He said the Government will not allow the opposition leaders to destroy public and private property during their misguided protests. The DP was accompanied by local leaders led by Nyandarua County Governor Kiarie Badilisha, Woman Rep. Faith Gitau, Kipipiri MP Wanjiku Muhia and Ministry of Lands Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Kimani Ngunjiri. Others were MPs Njuguna Kiaraho (Ol Kalou), Michael Muchira (Ol Jororok) and Kwenya Thuku (Kinangop) together with members of Nyandarua county assembly and National Government Administration Officers. Mr Gachagua asked leaders in Central Kenya to remain united for the purpose of their interests. On Azimio's demand to be allowed access to IEBC's electronic voter transmission data, servers, Mr Gachagua said he and President William Ruto were not aware of where the said servers are located. "The President and I do not even know where those servers are located. We urge the Azimio leaders to channel all their issues through the Parliamentary Bipartisan Committee because there will be no "handshake" between them and the President," said Mr Gachagua.
