The Standard Group Plc is a multi-media organization with investments in media
platforms spanning newspaper print operations, television, radio broadcasting,
digital and online services. The Standard Group is recognized as a leading
multi-media house in Kenya with a key influence in matters of national and
international interest.
Until her appointment, Ms Kulundu was the commission’s manager for elections in Siaya County. She served as IEBC’s regional coordinator for elections between 2010 and 2017.
In other appointments, Crispine Owiye, who was the commission’s head of investigations and prosecution, has been appointed director of legal and public affairs.
Michael Ouma has been appointed director of information communication and technology.
Kulundu has 12 years' experience in elections management and holds a master’s degree in business administration and a bachelor’s degree in commerce.
Interviews for the three positions were conducted on March 9 and 11.
“The three successful candidates emerged as the most qualified and suitable for the positions,” IEBC chairperson Wafula Chebukati said in a press statement yesterday.
The appointments come a day after the commission appointed Marjan Hussein Marjan as Chief Executive Officer.
Chebukati said Mr Marjan emerged the best candidate out of the five shortlisted from 511 applicants.
Among those who had been shortlisted were electoral and governance expert Zephaniah Aura, Mombasa County IEBC boss Nancy Kariuki, Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development Director Joel Mabonga. Michugu.
