On Sunday top contenders in this year’s Car and General National Motocross Championship will be tearing around the track at the Jamhuri Park from 9.30am.

This will be the fifth round in the series and competitors will be riding their powerful machines on the limit to improve their chances of winning their particular championship classes.

Although there have been some signs of rain, it seems likely that the track will be wet and slippery for this the event Sunday.

Whether riders will be duelling in the dust, or sliding in slippery conditions spectators are in for an action packed day with prospects of wheel to wheel racing.

The MX 50, MX 65 and MX 85 classes have attracted the majority of competitors. The youngsters in these classes for small bikes will have the comfort of being cheered by their parents while they ride with great determination.

MX85 features Apollo Mbuki who won the fourth round, outgoing MX65 champion Samir Anwar, Masalule Kituyi, Rohan Gandhi, Karan Sehmi, Githuku Mungai, Charles King’ang’i, Muthandi Wanjigi and girl rider Ashley Njoroge.

MX65 is also anticipated to produce fireworks with go-getter Rolf Kihara, David Murigi, Owain Ashley, Jeremy Waithaka, Ngugi Waweru, Mohammed Anwar, Alister Diniz, Nikita Sehmi and Callum Hays in high spirits. Nikita is the only girl rider at MX65.

MX50 has on form Jesse Waithaka, Maina Wanjigi, Dekker Kihara and Xavier Walimohammed.

The MX 1,MX 2 and MX 125 classes will be the main crowd pullers though with the likes of Shivam Vinayak, Cruze Muigai and Ivan Guya roaring round the challenging track in a series of power slides, jumps and tear away bursts of speed along the short straights.

Leader Vinayak unveils his new ‘Monster Energy’ Kawasaki Four Stroke bike in his MX 1 title campaign against Ken Anunda in second spot followed by Charles Mugo.

MX 2 leader Muigai will face his cousin Tutu Maina, Allan Maina, JJ Kahumbura, Eugene Maina and Zane Young.

Ivan Guya takes the MX125 fight to Mwai Kibaki, Ted Wanday and Adil Khan.
