Sakaja unveils his dream team to run city affairs

Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja unveiled a team that will help him deliver his pledges for the City residents.

In a detailed document to the media, Sakaja named all the County Executive Committees and their chief officers.

Sakaja also highlighted detailed functions in Executive Order released on Wednesday.

Some of the key offices under Governor Sakaja include that of the County Secretary Chief Officer, Office of the Governor, Chief of Staff and County attorney among others.

Director Administration, Office of the Deputy Governor will fall under Sakaja's deputy,  Muchiri Njoroge.

Muchiri’s roles will include coordination and implementation of County Executive Decisions in all the County Sectors, more specifically Business and hustler opportunities and Boroughs, Administration and Personnel.   

The new County Executives Committees are Charles Kerich in charge of  Finance, Stephen Gathuita Mwangi (Built Environment and Urban Planning), Michael Gumo (Innovation and Digital Economy), Brain Mulama (Talent, Skills Development and Care)  and Ibrahim Auma Naygoya of Boroughs Administration and Personnel.

Others are Anastasia Nyalita Mutethya appointed to the Health, wellness and Nutrition docket, Patrick Mbogo (Mobility and Works), Maurine Kinyanjui (Green Nairobi Environment, Water, food and agriculture), Rose Karikuki (Business and Hustler Opportunities) and Suzanne Silantoi for Inclusivity, Public Participation and Customer Care.

Recently the County Assembly rejected five out of 33 Chief Officers nominated by Sakaja, sending him back to the drawing board.

Those who did not make it were Winnie Kathangu  (Economic Planning), Elizabeth Njeri (Trade) Bernard Buluma (Wellness) Justus Kathenge and Collins Omondi.

The Assembly Committees said that some of the nominees did not qualify as they lacked knowledge on various issues.

Committee said that another nominee failed to show up during the vetting.

For this reason, they tasked the Governor to forward fresh names for vetting.
