An Administration policeman accused of killing a boda boda rider at Mama Lucy Hospital has been charged with murder.

Zaddock Ochuka, who is accused of shooting and killing Daniel Ngare, pleaded not guilty yesterday at the High Court in Milimani.

“The court is hereby informed by the Director of Public Prosecutions on behalf of the republic that the accused person is charged with murder contrary to Section 203 as read with Section 204 of the Penal Code Cap 63 laws of Kenya,” read the charge sheet.

The officer was involved in an altercation with Ngare at the gate of the hospital. Ngare was trying to rush in a girl who needed immediate medical attention after she was rescued from drowning in a river at Korogocho.

The prosecution presented medical examination records before Justice Stella Mutuku showing the AP was fit to stand trial. The prosecution has lined up 22 witnesses who will testify in the case that will be heard by Justice James Wakiaga from September 22 to 30.

An application by Ochuka’s lawyer Nick Omari to have the accused released on bail will also be heard on the date the trial will begin.
