Four people were on Saturday night arrested and several cartons of fake illicit gin impounded after DCI officers raided an illegal liquor manufacturing firm at Nairobi’s Dandora estate.

Samuel Kihara, Peter Mwangi, Margaret Waithera and Moses Itunga were arrested after detectives got wind of an illicit liquor firm operating as a go-down at Baraka-Dandora.

During the raid, a loaded van with fake KRA and KEBS stickers, some chemicals packaging bottles and seals were also recovered.

Other items recovered during the rade included over 177 cartons packed with illicit Spirit Brands and several 250L drums of suspected ethanol recovered.

The DCI said samples impounded at the building have been taken for further analysis and that investigation is underway to find people behind the plant as those arrested were just workers.

The suspects will be arraigned after investigations are completed.

“Samples from the plant were taken for further analysis and crime scene sealed off. Suspects in custody and to be charged accordingly,” said the DCI.
