Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko showed up at Pumwani Police Grounds to celebrate the 56th Madaraka Day fete wearing full city inspectorate ceremonial outfit.

The outfit featured the Coat of Arms of Nairobi, shoulder cord and golden batons decorations.

Hundreds of boda boda riders trailed his motorcade all the way to the venue from the City centre.

Cheering City residents waved at the governor’s motorcade, as it patiently snaked its way through the crowd to the grounds.

Sonko arrived moments after Nairobi Woman Rep Esther Passaris’s arrival and briefly went to the dais as a huge crowd joined them.

After settling down, the Nairobi Governor followed normal protocol with leaders and politicians giving their speech.

City residents took to social media to discuss Sonko’s Madaraka Day swag.

“I told you citizens and I repeat, ‘this is the kind of President we want come 2022 or 2027' a government of the people, for the people and by the people. The governor is simple and chose to ride with the common man. God bless you his Excellency,” Eric Nzioka, a Nairobi resident said.

“Kenyans of goodwill should vote Sonko for president,” Elvis Kprono wrote on his Facebook.

“We recognise you sir. You should team up with Mombasa Governor Hassan to give Kenya servant leadership,” another resident said on Facebook.
