Chiefs in trouble after minors take local brew chang’aa

Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Coordination of National Government Dr. Fred Matiang’i has directed Regional Commissioner to facilitate investigations into alleged negligence of area Chief and Assistant Chief in Bomet County, with a view of taking disciplinary action against them.

This is after three children were hospitalized after partaking local brew chang’aa in Kaproret village, Mogogosiek Location, Bomet County.

Four suspects have been arrested in connection to the incident and are now being detained at Konoin Police Station awaiting to be arraigned in court on Thursday 27.

Matiang’i has restated the Government’s zero tolerance policy on production and distribution of illegal liquor and warned brewers and sellers that they will be dealt will according to the law.

“We will spare no efforts or resources in protecting Kenyans from these toxic substances, especially when they affect the lives of our innocent. We will act firmly and decisively on this matter,” said Matiang’I in a press statement.

The CS has also put on notice National Government Administrative Officers and warned that those found sleeping on job will be sacked.
