No matter how much precaution you take when handling your carpet, you are unlikely to avoid having an annoying stain on your carpet from juice, spilled tea or coffee, blood stain or pet refuse. Here are four simple ways to remove such stains:

Attend to the stain immediately, blotting out with a dry kitchen towel to absorb as much of the spilled content as possible. Change the cloth as it becomes saturated with the beverage so that you do not end up spreading the stain to other areas of the carpet.

Mix some vinegar with water and a gentle non-bleach liquid soap such as dishwashing soap and try out a patch test on a discrete part of the carpet to ensure that the chemicals do not damage the carpet.

Gently soak the stained carpet area, blot or scrub gently with a soft brush, rinse and repeat until the carpet stain disappears.

For stubborn stains, find a carpet stain remover from the supermarkets and repeat the process.
