Haven of luxury at Kendu Bay

Real Estate

We arrived at Kisindi Lodge & Spa in Kendu Bay after a two hour boat ride across Lake Victoria. We boarded MV Ujima at a beach in Kisumu shortly after 10am and arrived at the lodge that sits adjacent the lake at midday.

Here, breakfast is served from 7am to 9am, lunch from 1pm-2.30pm and dinner starts at 7.30pm till 9pm while the bar operates till 10.30pm.

Two charming ladies, Cleah Kendi and Mildred Agoya are at hand to personally guide guests through the menus before they can place their orders. Meals are served within 15 minutes of ordering.

For lunch, we settled for the kanam style fritto-misto, which is breaded chicken carbonades on tomato cucumber salad. The main meal was the Kisindi fish fillet zuri choice on tomato olives sauce with Embu steamed rice and a douse of broconi florets.

Dessert included Kisindi delights Basboussa — a North African sweet almond cake — with a touch of coconut and a decorative sauce. Meals are enjoyed in a relaxing atmosphere – thanks to the panoramic sceneries and breathtaking views of Lake Victoria and the Homa Hills.

Guests also prefer going for nature walks or hiking the Homa Hills, especially before breakfast.

One has the option of a swim or a Swedish massage by therapist Jessica Odigu. The massage costs Sh2,000 but promises great rewards for the muscles. A green bath costs Sh1,000 while manicure and pedicure costs Sh850 each.
