It's fight for survival as three teams seek to hang on in FKF-PL

[Stafford Ondego, Standard] The battle to win the 2024-2025 FKF Premier League and that of avoiding relegation to the National Super League is expected to go down to the wire. After 30 rounds of matches, it is not yet clear who will win this year's title or which three teams will be relegated to the second tier league. Kenya Police solidified their top spot once again after edging out Bandari at their own backyard in Mombasa, with Marvin Nabwire emerging the hero for the law enforcers who now sit top with 58 points. Tusker moved into second place above defending champions Gor Mahia after picking a 2-0 win over relegation fighting Murang'a Seal. With Erick Balecho and Deogratious Ojok hitting the target, the brewers who have blowing hot and cold in recent weeks revived their title push and now temporarily sit second with 55 points as Gor (53) sit third with a game in hand. Gor Mahia didn't play at the weekend after stadiums menace that has been slowing down the league's progress the past two years continued to affect the game with a suitable venue that can host the Mashemeji Derby still a problem. Kasarani Stadium and Nyayo Stadium which are the only two stadiums that can host the highly intense derby remain unavailable with renovations currently going on as Kenya prepares to host CHAN in August. That leaves the title race wide open. Police however must win all their remaining four matches to be sure of winning a maiden title. Police must defeat Kakamega Homeboyz tomorrow, FC Talanta over the weekend before the high stakes duels against Shabana and eventually Gor Mahia on the final day of the season. In the race to avoid the chop, Nairobi City Stars ended a six-match win-less run after edging out fellow struggles Mara Sugar 3-2. The win despite not lifting them out of the bottom place, revived survival hopes for Simba wa Nairobi. With 27 points, City Stars are just four points away from safety. Bidco United who currently occupy the relegation and promotion playoff spot (16th on the table) sit just two points above City Stars and Mara Sugar, who are safe for now sit 15th with 31 points. 12th-placed Kariobangi Sharks with 33 points, Talanta 13th with 32 points, and Posta Rangers 14th with 32 points are still not safe.
